Tilman Holzhauer

Lives & works in Berlin, Germany

Tilman Holzhauer spent parts of his youth in Mexico and Belgium and studied cinematography at the renowned Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg. Apart from his passion for documentary film he also worked in other areas, like for example fashion-film and -photography during a year he spent in the beautiful Barcelona.

He enjoys entering situations of great visual and emotional intensity and is always on the lookout for that famous picture, that only in the mind (completely) comes to life. His biggest motivation are stories that take us deep into other, alien worlds and let us participate in their beauty and/or dreadfulness. He loves people and their stories with genuine interest and an open mind. Finding images that touch by more than conventional esthetics is his personal challenge.

He is now working as a freelance cinematographer, digital colorist and photographer in Berlin, lately also as lecturer in the camera department for the students of EMBA Berlin. His passion is documentary work but he also does commercials/corporate/fashion and feature. His works include various coproductions with german public television, were in parts shown or awarded at international festivals and broadcasted on german television.

Four years ago he co-founded the coworking space 'Der Salon' and the post production facility 'Der Salon postproduction' in Berlin
